They're just sinking ever lower. There was a front page story in today's Indepedant about IDF soldiers testimonies about their conduct in Gaza at some IDF college that was pretty shocking.

I remember a programme on Isreal, featuring Gerald Kaufman, during which his anguish was so evident at the loss of the high principles that it was hoped Israel would be founded upon. It was one of the most moving programmes I have seen.

The media may support Israel, the Israelis may delude themselves about world opinion but in the end oppression is oppression and cooperation is not achieved with the barrel of a gun.

How many more Jews in the Diaspora are going to have to turn their heads in shame away from Israel before the Isrealis realise that they have lost all the moral capital that they had when people flocked to support them in the 1960s.

Very well said. Everyone I know is appalled by Israel's non stop oppression of the Palestinians, but you would never believe it from the media. For instance the first 44 most voted comments on the BBC's "Have your say" are pro Israeli. That cannot be representative.
It appears Israel has the western media under their control, so much so that no reporter ever asks an awkward question, such as why are the West Bank illegal settlements still expanding, or to suggest Israel broke the ceasefire first.
We seem to be losing real democracy.
